Free SEO Tips

Most people when they hear the term “Search Engine Optimization” get scared. It sounds complicated; so complicated in fact that most people don’t even bother to find out what it actually means, far less try to implement it.  Search Engine Optimization or more commonly termed ‘SEO’ does not have to be as hard as it sounds. With a few simple guidelines, you will be well on your way to having your website fully optimized. You don’t have to be super tech-savvy to accomplish this, it’s quite simple and with a little time and determination, I am sure that you will get it done.

The very first thing that you should do is develop a keyword strategy. We all know what keywords are and their importance when it comes to facilitating website traffic. For each page of your website, two or three keywords should be targeted. For instance, if you are a store that sells romance novels, you should choose keywords that reflect what you are selling. Therefore, words such as romance, books, and love, would all be good keywords to scatter across your webpage. The keywords should be uniquely matched to your products and services. If you are not sure of what keywords you should use, you can actually use the ‘Google Adwords’ app to research keywords that will match what you are selling.

Optimizing your title tags is yet another important step that you should take. Though title tags are not supposed to belong, in fact, they shouldn’t really be longer than sixty words, it is an important place for your keywords to appear. Using your selected keywords in order of priority is very important, these same words must be placed in the text which appears on your webpage, preferably in the same order in which they appeared in your title tags. Therefore, it is imperative that you plan what you are going to do beforehand. I suggest that you write the text exactly how you want it first, then place the keywords in the title tags.

The title pages of your website should be effective. Choosing any title that you think sounds good, will diminish the success of the page. You must remember that everything you do, should be planned and purposeful. Placing at least one of the keywords which you used in the title tag will help ensure that the page is effective and engaging. The title page is not limited like the title tags, you are afforded way more characters here, so you can really make it as attention-grabbing as you like.

Let’s talk about the content that you put on your site. You should always strive for the highest quality content, something that will keep the reader’s attention. You should provide valuable information that speaks to them, information that satisfies any questions that they may have been asking themselves. Therefore, again, you need to plan; this is the only way to ensure that you are providing quality content. You should remember that being lazy is not an option, so simply copying and pasting the same information from one page to the other is not the correct practice. This will only serve to bore the reader and by extension, encourage them to leave the site never to return. So instead of being lazy, you can be creative, add links for more information, images, and other interactive type materials, this is sure to make the reader happy!

Finally, another great way to add additional keywords to your website is by adding image tags to every image that you place on the site. For instance, if you have an image, when you mouse over it, you should see a product name or even an instruction. This is yet another way to that you can implement vital keywords on your site.

Search engine optimization/ SEO should not be too difficult once you take the time to plan exactly and methodically what you are doing. Getting the right keywords that will draw and keep your potential clients’ attention is well within reach.
